About Living with HIV/AIDS

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus, which attacks the immune system, slowly destroying the body's critical defence against infections and disease. Most HIV positive people eventually develop AIDS, or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, a collection of diseases and opportunistic infections, which can cause serious illness and death. Currently there is no vaccine or cure, but combination drug therapies help combat HIV and have shown in many cases to delay progression to AIDS.
